Council Meeting held on February 5th at the Village Hotel, Walsall
Over 30 people attended our council meeting with 17 of our groups and associations
represented. This is the largest attendance we have had for some time. I would like
to thank all those of you that attended and for the positive comments and feedback
I received afterwards. It’s a chance to network with other groups and to hear the
latest news in the industry. We went over what Nick Ibbott and I learnt at the last
DSA Steering Group Meeting and a discussion and voting took place at the meeting
on members’ views. This concerned proposals for how PDIs will be trained in the future
and how the application to become an ADI may change. We also heard about new ideas
for Check Tests and how we may be booking them ourselves in the future by email at
a time suitable to ourselves but obviously within the timeframe needed to re-register.
We also heard from our sponsors at Waveney insurance and I know I left with a lot
more information about insurance: many terms used are complicated to the average
person. We hope to make an information sheet concerning this in the near future.
We also had a report back from the meeting held in London on drivers’ eyesight and
the problems current legal requirements bring. Finally we discussed an idea we have
for a national young drivers’ competition as we wanted feedback from you on your
thoughts and ideas on this. We closed with a session around the table of queries
and concerns from member groups. An important part of the morning is of course the
networking opportunity and there were If you are feeling a little left out here then
please come and join us at the next one. I would like to see even more of our members
attend. The minutes will be out soon and sent to all our members via email.
The next meeting date for your diary is Saturday June 4th with the venue to be confirmed.
