Let’s Instruct

ADI Theory Test Home Study Course

The Let's Instruct theory course includes all the reference material required to pass the theory test, plus a comprehensive manual to guide PDI's through each subject.

Lets Instruct manual

The author of the Let's Instruct study manual is Matthew Stone, an experienced ADI, Diamond Special Test Driver, and ORDIT Trainer. Matthew was tutored by John Neilson, chairman of the ADINJC and director of training at Headway MSL.

Shortly after founding his successful instructor training company ‘Let's Instruct', Matthew discovered that many PDI's having passed their theory test, lacked the base knowledge to go on to succeed at parts two and three.

In response, Matthew created the Let's Instruct Theory pack. The reaction from PDI's was excellent, not only did they find the course easy and enjoyable, but results improved throughout every part of the qualification.

The reference guide takes PDI's to the individual pages of the books they need to read, and is updated regularly saving them time, and allowing you to concentrate on what matters.

There is no doubt that PDI's can pass the theory test by learning the questions ‘parrot fashion', but this unfortunately leaves them severely lacking in knowledge when it comes to parts two and three of their qualification.

This is a unique theory training system that will make studying for the theory test as easy as possible. The course has passed many ORDIT inspections, has been endorsed by the ADINJC and is to be used as part of there highly respected ‘Tutors Course'.

This pack includes all of the latest editions of DSA recommended reading material for becoming a driving instructor.

  • Let's Instruct Manual and Reference Guide
  • Driving Instructors Handbook
  • Driving the Essential Skills
  • The Highway Code
  • The Official Guide to Learning to Drive
  • Instructional Techniques and Practise
  • Practical Teaching Skills for Driving Instructors
  • Helping Learners to Practise the Official Guide
  • The Official Theory Test for ADI's
  • The Motor Car: Mechanical Principles
  • Know Your Traffic Signs
  • ADI 14. Your Road to Becoming a Driving Instructor
  • Driving Test success. All Tests. (PC DVD ROM)

This pack is sold individually to PDI's at a price of £250.00 including phone support. It can be ordered on line from the company website www.letsinstruct.co.uk or by phone Tel – 01327 844875.

ADINJC Council Meeting

Held 1st March 2008 at the Village Hotel, Walsall

We were very pleased with the large turn out of members for this meeting: it shows that we are growing as an association and not only attracting new members but also some older ones are showing interest again. Comments from members tell us that they enjoyed the occasion, the presentations and the opportunity to meet with other members and ADI groups from all over the country.ADINJC March 2008 Meeting

To open, our chairman, John Neilson, said how far we have come since the last council meeting. He gave thanks to the committee members who work so hard to make the association a success. The first presentation was from Lynne Barrie, Secretary and Neil Peek, President. It was a light hearted talk about who we are, where we are and how we represent and help members. It also enabled members to meet each other around the table. The training courses available were described; members were told how they can use the expert panel to answer questions at njcfirst@aol.com .

The most important benefit is the unity that being together can bring when we represent your views. Neil reminded us of a quote from Pat Murphy MBE, “ It is far better to belong to an association for one hundred years and not need it than to need it for one minute and not belong to it”.

James Quinn , a governing committee member had prepared a set of terms and conditions for driver trainers to use. This is endorsed by the ADINJC and forms a code of conduct. After discussion, it will be finalised and made available for members to use.

It is recommended that all our members get their pupils to sign such a document before they begin tuition. The easy to read document can have a driving school logo on the front.

Our head of training, Nick Ibbott, gave us a presentation about being part of the DSA's CPD working group. We are also represented on the CPD steering group by Lynne: the next meeting will be in April. The new DSA presentation that Nick showed us had not been seen before by ADIs. He described the three stages of CPD to be introduced as communication, voluntary and mandatory. CPD will start as voluntary and become mandatory after approximately two years. Nick advised members to start a folder of evidence of any training they do or any meetings or conferences they attend as CPD will be able to be back dated. He also suggested that members who had not signed up to the DSA code of practice should do that. A benefit is to be included on the DSA website under a “nearest ADI” link. He described the difference between prescribed and elective CPD and how we will need to cover 50% of each in our one day a year of CPD. Nick answered member's questions and led a discussion on the subject.

DSC02500.JPGProfessor Peter Russell, shown left, gave details of a master class that he wants to run for ADI trainers. There was a good response from the audience. It is likely to be held in May for a day and interested members should contact Lynne or Clive, our liaison officer, to be included on the list.

Kathy Higgins, governing committee member, showed us the new website soon to be launched. It will be at www.adinjc.co.uk . The audience liked the clear, simple format and thanked Kathy for all her work.

The meeting lasted three hours but we had time for only a few questions from members. At the next meeting we intend to put question time in the middle of the meeting and give it more priority. The next meeting will be in June with the date and larger venue to be announced soon. Thanks to all those who attended and we look forward to seeing even more members at our next meeting.
