Approved Driving Instructors National Joint Council
The council came about as a direct result of the pending fuel crisis of the early 1970s, Leading figures in the industry at this point in time decided that should the crisis become a threat to ADIs a united approach would be required and as a result the first meeting was convened in 1973 at the MSA HQ in West London, Pat Murphy was in the chair and Peter Russell recorded the minutes and so the National Joint Council of Driving Instructor Organisations was born.

Caring for your industry
Soon after formation, the ADINJC was granted Consultative Status by the then Ministry of Transport, a privilege it still holds to this day with the Driving Standards Agency.
Since its formation, the ADINJC has been at the heart of the decision making process, which has produced many of the innovative changes which have made our Industry the respected profession it is today.
The ADINJC fervently defended the ADI Register against deregulation, and asked the DSA to regulate driving standards.
